Dual Comms: Platform Dual vs Dual MonoUpdated 34 minutes ago

DISCO32 Help

Mission-Ready Systems · Zero Guesswork

One job: define platform dual vs dual mono vs single-comm so you pick the right architecture before a PTT. Wrong architecture = wrong PTT.

Owns: architecture definitions only. AMP cable SKUs → AMP Downleads. O-ring physics → TP-105 article. Product match → selector.

Always answer dual first on the store tool. This article is not a second configurator.

Platform dual (stereo / proprietary)

One system path carries both nets (or a proprietary dual).

  • MPU5 dual path · PRC-163 dual-band kits · Silvus / MANET dual PTT
  • U384 / 5-pole stereo dual · stock U174 Stereo downlead

Rule: A normal mono Constant Able or mono U-94 is not the default on a raw stereo/platform cable. Use the platform kit—or, if you only need a TP-105 to seat in a mono jack, that is O-Ring seating (mono-binaural result), not dual-net architecture.

Dual mono (two mono PTTs)

Two independent mono paths:

Left → monaural lead → PTT #1 → Radio A Right → monaural lead → PTT #2 → Radio B
  • Monaural leads (not one mono-binaural “doing dual,” not stereo U174 as dual mono)
  • Two PTTs (Constant Able and U-94 can mix by side)

AMP-specific downlead matrix: Ops-Core AMP Downleads.

Single-comm

One net: headset and/or earpiece → one PTT → one radio. Ops detail: Headset and Earpiece Paths.

Dual mono support note (AMP + two CA)

With two monaural AMP downleads and two Constant Able PTTs, some Motorola dual setups can show crosstalk / feedback from shared grounds (audio bleeding across nets). Field fix used in support: transformer isolation upstream (between radio and PTT), not downstream. Contact support if you hit this after a correct dual-mono BOM.

Same-connector dual GCAI kits may also use a purpose-built dual CA path—confirm with the selector or RFQ rather than assuming two independent mono PTTs always fit.
